The second season will include chess and study of music elements. We are happy to announce new music directors Dr. Yeou-Cheng Ma and Michael Dadap from Children's Orchestra Society.  They will bring over 40 years of experience in teaching children the language of music.  The program will be highly interactive using demonstrations, Finale music notation software and guest visits of young string orchestra.  You can get more information about their amazing organization at http://www.childrensorch.org/index.php. 

In chess the main focus will be on group projects, training in tactics, chess composition, game analysis using latest computer programs, mastering the ability to learn from your own games.  Each student will be required to maintain the database, complete custom designed assignments and be able to present them to the group each session. Attending tournament once a month is highly recommended. 

Assistant coaches will monitor progress of the groups. 

Coach GM Gennady Sagalchik will again bring the wealth of experience and innovation to the program with guests like GM Pal Benko, a brilliant chess composer and other famous grandmasters.

- On-site coaching at selected tournaments

- $80 Scholarship towards tuition applicable at any ChessMates center

The Academy will open its doors on February 24 at 4:30 - 7:15 at The Green Vale School.
